The Center For The Study Of Neptic Psychology

The Center for the Study of Neptic Psychology is a natural outgrowth of the The Watchful Gate Center for the Study of Patristic Discernment in Contemplative Spirituality. Nepsis is greek for "watchfulness", a practice which forms part of the core of the Orthodox Christian practice of spiritual life called Hesychasm (which is derived from the greek word hesychia, meaning silence). While there are many studies and practices of the psychology of mindfulness and attention, The Neptic Psychology Study Center aims to focus primarily on those uniquely derived from or related to the Hesychast practice of Nepsis.

Some of the current topics of study include:

  1. Psychology of Comparative Noetic Ascesis
  2. Developmental Noetic Ascesis and Psychological Practices
  3. Cognitive Psychology and Logismoi Phenomena
  4. Kiriyevsky and Integral Psychology
  5. Transpersonal vs. Transessential Psychology
  6. Binaural Beats: Frequency Following Response Entrainment and Enhanced Learning
  7. Nootropic Therapy and Cognitive Enhancement
