The Hotel on the Virtual Town Square is called the Embankment Hotel. It might be wise to stay away from here, unless just getting a room for the night, and there is a less exciting hotel above the Cafe. Yes, I would definitely recommend staying away. If you must court with danger, there are several establishments in the Hotel:
Cafe Existenz: A bizzare hangout where everyone seems to have lost their way, or are generally filled with ennui. I suspect that it is a place frequently visited by those temporarily "in a state" before they recover their senses.
Club Le Stranger: downstairs from the Existenz is a giant nightclub made up of 4 separate themed rooms:
- The Stray Cat Caberet: a smoky brick-arched room with a low ceiling, where anguished poetry is read to tortured accordian playing, followed by anguished folk music
- The Ceilidh House Pub: Folks just sit round with their fiddles, tin whistles, bodhrans, accordians, guitars and what not, and play jigs and reels all night, interspersed with the most outlandish tales ya ever did hear.
- The Island Dance Hall and Tiki Room: The pool deck looks so much like a tropical beach that even Gauguin would be tempted to go native. The Jawaiian beat goes on under the cabana roof, safe from the simulated rain storms.

The Island Dance Hall can be found in the form of Tiki Beach on Kiriyevsky Island in Second Life.
- The Drifter Honky Tonk and Biker Bar: The strains of soulful bluegrass and old timey country wafts over the pool tables and dance floor from either the juke box or the stage. If any musician dares to sing with a twang that they weren't born with, you'll know why there's a cage protecting the stage.
