The Spiritual Life - St. Theophan the Recluse

I am going to begin a discussion topic for [i:62021a4fc9]The Spiritual Life and How to be Attuned to it[/i:62021a4fc9] by St. Theophan the Recluse. Patrick Barnes writes on http://www.orthodoxinfo.com:

I have to nearly agree. It would be hard to find a more accessible summary of instructions on the spiritual life than St. Theophans. For this reason a "St. Theophan the Recluse Society" was begun, for the purpose of studying these "Modern Holy Fathers" (St. Ignaty Brianchaninov is another of these).

orthodoxinfo.com has two excerpts which may be read online:

There are some suprising (and controversial) things in this book as well, but overall, this is a good book if you are looking for a jumpstart in Orthopraxis, I think.

What exactly?

The Spiritual Life - St. Theophan the Recluse

I have the book and need a good "excuse" to read it. When do we begin?

The Spiritual Life - St. Theophan the Recluse

Greetings!

I have this book by St. Theophan but I haven't read it yet. I will look forward to reading it with the participants of this forum.

Thanks!
