The sea beheld and fled, Jordan turned back!
The Biblical miracle recurs on the Jordan during the Epiphany Day - Interfax "The sea beheld and fled, Jordan turned back." Anyone paying any attention during Theophany services recently heard this psalm verse many times - a prophecy which is mirrored in the Old Testament readings (The Red sea turning away to let the Israelites pass, the Jordan doing the same when the Ark of the Covenent passed etc.) both of which are types that find their fulfillment in the Theophany/baptism of the Lord. The services indicate that the Jordan literally changed the direction of the flow when the Lord stepped into the waters. Well it happened again! When Patriarch Theophilus threw the cross into the waters of the Jordan at the completion of the blessing of those waters, the Jordan bubbled up and changed directions briefly! There were many witnesses to these events, just as there are every year when the Holy Fire descends at the Tomb of Christ during Holy week. But these things do not get much coverage outside of Orthodox news. By strannik at 2006-01-30 22:33 | The Church | login to post comments | printer friendly version | 2986 reads
