The Ron Paul Rally In Silicon Valley

In Charleston Park, amidst the buildings of the Google campus (what used to be SGI and Sun Microsystems), people set down their lawn chairs, coolers and signs, and listened to Ron Paul and supporters make the case for Paul's presidential bid. Paul had done an extensive interview for Google employees the day before (view here). Now on a makeshift stage in the park, he gave a rousing speech after four of his supporters. The first four speakers were:

The event was well attended, but not as well as might have been expected given the large techno-libertarian base in Silicon Valley. Normal not-very-political people of common sense from both ends of the spectrum were well represented, but the libertarian fringe were also present, and were generally entertaining! My favorite overheard quote of the day (directed at one of the libertarians present): “look at that guy – he thinks he can dismantle the Federal Reserve, but he can't even fold up that lawn chair!” I was pleased to meet a fellow Orthodox Christian Reader at the event, so we appeared to have spontaneously created “Orthodox Readers for Ron Paul” (ORRP).
